Bank Souk Sawda is an art piece made entirely from Lebanese currency: banknotes shredded by the Central Bank of Lebanon and given away as promotional material, re-made by hand into a bill of our own.
Every bill is hand printed and carries a Master Key that links it to its owner.

For a decade, the Central Bank of Lebanon has been creating promotional material out of shredded local currency. We created a re-interpretation of the renowned Lebanese Lira bill out of this material, for no other reason than that we can.
The exhibition also showcased the oldest Lebanese cheques issued by the Imperial Ottoman Bank in the 1800s, with editions reaching up to the 1990s.
